From validation to recognition: results of the ENIC Ukraine training for HEIs

Validation and recognition are tools for ensuring quality and increasing trust in Ukrainian higher education. From 2025, validation is a mandatory condition for admission to Ukrainian HEIs based on foreign educational documents, and specialists of higher education institutions must have the skills to pre-analyse such documents for compliance of the educational level with the conditions for admission and the requirements for their registration.

On May 16, 2025, the ENIC Ukraine team conducted an online training for representatives of higher education institutions “From validation to recognition: practice, decisions and non-standard cases”. More than 50 HEI specialists in the field of validation and recognition from all over Ukraine took part in the event. ENIC Ukraine specialists shared their experience and vision: Director Viktoriya Sergiyenko, Head of the Recognition Department Anna Bakhlukova, Advisor Yuliia Havrylenko, Senior Specialists on Credential Evaluation Yevheniia Kovtun and Vitalii Prudkyi.

The training programme combined theoretical blocks and practical cases - examples of documents that ENIC Ukraine specialists encountered during validation and recognition procedures.

What was discussed at the training:

  • role of validation and recognition in ensuring the quality of education;
  • organisation of the validation procedure in the conditions of the 2025 admission campaign;
  • analysis of educational documents issued by branches of foreign educational institutions;
  • consideration of non-standard cases in recognition;
  • discussion of the most relevant issues.

Special attention was paid to work in mini-groups, where representatives of HEIs were able to discuss practical cases, ask questions and get advice from ENIC Ukraine specialists.

All participants of the training will receive certificates of participation.

ENIC Ukraine thanks all participants for their trust, active participation and joint work!
